I’m pretty sure that we’re all aware of the treasure alluded cliché “X marks the spot”. Honestly I could be having a deep moment or not, but when it comes to a lot of our socialization skills and how we respond to others, mostly, if not wholly, there are “Exes” that mark various spots in our lives that either teach or taint.
When thinking of an “ex” the general concept is that it’s related to romance gone awry, but if I may broaden the scope I’d offer that an “ex” is merely someone who was once a major fixture in life, howbeit boy/girlfriend, spouse, friend, or even family, but are no longer in the picture. I was conversing with one of my permies (the permanent people in my life) about this from the standpoint of an ex-romantic association as well as ex-friendship/kinship association. In each temporal relationship, although ending sourly, there’s a mature gratitude for the lessons learned, or treasures found within self, due to the ex associated with the lesson.
So even though I could probably go on and on…I’ll simply offer that the location to whatever growth, maturation, peace, happiness or whatever will probably be found once you retrace your steps/life and take a good look at each eX and the lessons that you’re meant to learn from that season….
